History
Alpha Kappa Rho (also known as AKRHO and AKP) is a fraternity/sorority with the stated aim of creating a bridge between men and women who are committed to seek the social advancement of underrepresented populations. The organization was founded on August 8, 1973 at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. Registered at the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-profit and non-dividend corporation, it was the first fraternal organization to be chartered independently from its mother country. In the same university, the organization has also pioneered an Inter-Collegiate Brotherhood known as Alpha Kappa Rho Inter-Collegiate Humanitarian Service Fraternity and Sorority. Alpha Kappa Rho has also established alumni chapters among Filipino communities abroad.
